Access statement

Introduction We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our 6 bedroom Guest House. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavor to help.

Pre-Arrival There is a bus terminus in Keswick and there are frequent bus services. The main train station is 25 minutes away by car/bus (Penrith). There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis. If required, we can make a booking for you. Menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement. Free WiFi access is available for guests. You can contact us via phone or email (details below).

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities We have private parking. We can assist guests with luggage. The town is 5 minutes walk from the Guest House

Main Entrance & Reception The front door has one step 15cm high.  The front door is always locked but we do have a bell in the door canopy which can be reached from any height. The door is 97cm wide. On entry there is a hallway 6 by 1.3 metres. There is wooden flooring throughout the ground floor.

Public Areas – General (Internal) Our corridors to the breakfast room are 1.3m wide. Corridors are well lit. The flooring on all corridors on the ground floor is wooden floor boards. The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet. The dining room is on the ground floor. The stairs are 18cm high, 27cm deep, 90cm wide. There is reduced ceiling height at the top of the stairs leading to the second floor.

Public Areas – WC Bedrooms are en suite. No public WC available.

Dining Room Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor. There are no steps from the corridor to the dining room. Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request. Tables have under space of 64cm high by 60cm wide and height of 76cm. The chairs are without arms. Menus can be provided in large print.

Bedrooms There are 6 bedrooms, 3 on the first floor and 3 on the second floor.

First and Second Floor Bedrooms 3 double bed rooms, 2 King size rooms, 1 single room. All rooms have an en-suite facilities  with room. Rooms 1, 2 and 6 have showers over baths. Rooms 3, 4 and 5 have walk in showers with a small step into the shower. There is non slip flooring in the bath/shower rooms. Room 3 shower cubical is slightly hindered by the sink so is a small space entrance. All showers have sliding doors with an entrance width of 50cm. Room 6 has 3 steps within the room leading from the entrance to the bedroom. All rooms have a TV with remote control. Fitted short pile carpet on the floor. There is reduced ceiling height in places in bedrooms 4, 5 & 6. The door entryway to Room 4 is reduced to a height of.

Additional Information Mobile phone reception is generally good. We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation. The fire alarm sounds continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment. We are a completely no smoking building. The owners do not reside in the main building but are notified remotely by telephone if the alarm system activates.

Laundry  We do not offer laundry service but there is an excellent launderette in the town centre.
